The Medical Affairs Manager (MAM) is a key member of the country medical team and represents field and customer focused role, enabling medically oriented interaction with internal and external stakeholders

The MAM is responsible for building and maintaining professional relationships with key thought leaders and external stakeholders to expand Medison’s educational, advisory, and research partnership opportunities.

The MAM will work collaboratively within the cross-functional team to provide expert medical support internally and to our vendors as scientific expert in the disease area(s) under their responsibility. Supports the country Medical Director in the creation and execution of the medical stakeholders engagement strategy and medical affairs plan(s), from pre-launch activities across the continuum of the product life cycle, in line with brand strategies and company objectives.

The MAM reports to the Country Medical Director


  • Establish, build and maintain collaborative relationships with key external medical experts and thought leaders related to the relevant current and future disease or therapeutic area, and develop a deep understanding of the stakeholder needs.
  • Contribute to the generation and communication of complex scientific information, and communicate scientific data related to current and future products under their responsibility to relevant stakeholders (including the delivery of scientific presentations to individuals or groups of health care professionals).
  • Ensure timely and high-quality responses to unsolicited questions from HCPs and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor the external landscape and identify new and changing trends in therapeutic area. Capture competitive intelligence, and proactively communicate strategic insights to the cross functional team where appropriate. .
  • Build, maintain and ensure objectives of KOL engagement plans are met in a timely, accurate and compliant manner.
  • Support the country Medical Director in the development and execution of the strategic medical plan as a component of the integrated brand plan for allocated products within the portfolio
  • Implement and deliver on the medical tactical plans, including for example external medical education initiatives; local scientific meetings and programs such as symposia, round table meetings, preceptorships; advisory boards meetings.
  • Under the guidance of the Medical Director, provide Medical Affairs coverage for conferences, company-sponsored meetings and scientific events as needed
  • Coordinate and support the Early Access/Local Compassionate Program to address high unmet medical needs.
  • Manages/provide support to Medison’s partner clinical research programs, registries and investigator sponsored research as required in accordance with company policy, local regulations and GCP requirements
  • Support the development and review of medical, non-promotional and promotional materials, in accordance with Medison’s SOPs and the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct
  • Collaborate cross functionally and provide medical input into commercial and other functional strategies and initiatives
  • Proactively support internal medical knowledge development and conduct therapeutic area/product training to contribute to MSLs, sales and other functions and specialized vendors where relevant, and develop/update training materials as relevant
  • Maintain in depth knowledge and scientific expertise for assigned products and related therapeutic areas
  • Adhere to pharmacovigilance requirements, and support the implementation of a additional risk minimization activities as required.
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with local regulatory and legal requirements, local guidelines and accepted standards, Medicines Australia Code of Conduct, and Medison’s policies and procedures.


  • Advanced tertiary qualification in a scientific discipline (PharmD, MD, PhD is preferred)
  • Significant experience in Medical Affairs within Australia/New Zealand, of which a minimum of 3 years experience in a medical scientific liaison (or equivalent) or medical manager role, with experience in new product launches and managing medical-scientific projects end-to-end.
  • 10+ years of related pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience working with innovative drugs/companies preferred.
  • Experience working in multinational organizations.
  • Deep knowledge of the Australian healthcare system, experience in Rare Diseases ideal.
  • Strong understanding of the local regulatory requirements, accepted standards and guidelines.
  • Medicines Australian Code of Conduct training completed, with a strong working knowledge and experience in the practical application of the Code
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and medical information to both internal and a variety of external stakeholders
  • Highly collaborative and team spirited
  • Fluent in English with excellent written and oral communication skills.
